Message from the Exalted Ruler – July 2010
Dear Fellow Elk 248 Members,
A great June was had by many during our Outdoor Patio dedication and followed by Flag Day celebration. The golf outing was a great success along with the Kids fishing and Elks Fishing contest. I will report on these results during our lodge meetings. Do you ever feel like momentum is starting to push us ahead, well I do, and it is because of your participation, volunteerism and good fellowship. It was my honor to address the 150 attendees at Flag Day and experience how the words Elk and Patriot are intertwined.
It is with sadness that I accepted Inner Guard Peggy Rebhahn’s resignation. She has been and will continue to be a great member and we wish Peggy a smooth recovery during her treatments. On the other hand, it is with great pleasure that I have appointed Jim Wright as our new Inner Guard. He is our Elk of the Year and continues to show us an example of what a good Elk should be. Wish them both well; they are fine Elks.
Please also welcome Jackie Sullivan as our newest Elk; she was initiated on June 17th. Speaking of new Elks, Bruce Conrad has agreed to assume the duties of Trustee, this is a great example of new members jumping in and making a difference.
As you may know, the Wisconsin legislature passed a no smoking law which will take effect on July 5th. The club and lodge will conform to this mandate. I ask all members to respect this mandatory requirement.
I will be headed to the Grand Lodge Convention in Orlando during our summer shut down (July 3rd thru 8th). Please direct comments to Henry Lamovec, our capable Esteemed Leading Knight. Full convention report will follow in the July letter.
An exceptional organization like Wausau #248 is constantly progressing and should be shared; keep up your recruiting efforts. Share the many benefits of Elkdom with other worthy American citizens. Keep our ranks growing.
Fraternally
Marty Sullivan
