Wausau Elks Lodge #248

Dear Fellow Elk 248 Members,

September is upon us; how fast the year goes by. The summer’s end and the beginning of fall put us in back to school mode, bowling on our improved alleys, and of course Packer season. Last year’s Packer food Sunday was a great success and this year will even be better with more fans, delicious food, and a better Packer team. These Sunday afternoons are a ‘week maker’ because many enthusiastic Elks travel down to watch the game and enjoy each others’ team spirit. The tradition will grow with more sponsors and very capable Elk committee members making sure that we exceed your expectations.

Our Queen of Hearts game became very exciting near the end of the deck. Congratulations to the winners and we will have another intriguing game start in the fall. Near the end, we had the pleasure of seeing many Elks who enjoyed the game and sampled some great outdoor cooking aided by beer and wine tasting. This effort was sponsored by our new trustee, Bruce Conard; great job Bruce. What made my day was seeing some members who were less frequent visitors. Welcome back, it was nice seeing you at the club.

Speaking of members, we are actively “recruiting” Elks who have not yet paid their dues. A list has been posted to alert you of fellow Elks in this situation. If you know any of these members, some gentle persuasion may be just the trick to save another Elk. Thanks for your efforts in spreading our fellowship to existing and new members.

Many enjoyed our second August Spaghetti Dinner. It is terrific new event featuring a great economical meal. Several new members and our growth committee are involved in putting this great meal together. It is a growing quarterly tradition which will continue in the fall. Don’t forget our fall golf outing at the Merrill Golf Club on September 20^th. Both are fine examples of good Elks fellowship. Why not invite a guest and share some of the good Elkdom we all enjoy?
